The prime functions of a PKI are to handle certificate signing requests, authorise the signing of certificates, sign certificates, publish signed certificates, revoke certificates, publish lists of revoked certificates, and handle the renewal of certificates.

Certificates in turn is utilized to provide Authentication and confidentiality during the encryption process, which allows an organization to further trust the source of the information shared internally.

  • Full ownership by the customer, from Root level down to certificate level. Not dependent on any higher-level CA authority, which normally is in another country/organization
  • FIPS 140-2 level 3 hardware is utilized
  • Role based management
  • RSA certificates for all elements: 2048 bit or greater
  • Key managed via custodianship (5 custodians for root CA, and 3 custodians for intermediate CA)
