In-Sleeper THDS-ES Hot Axle Box Detector
THDS-ES HABD is a wayside system that operates independently to collect temperature data of all axle boxes on passing trains at line speeds.
The collected data is analyzed by specially developed algorithms to identify bearings where the temperature rises above a threshold that can be preset by operator.
In conjunction with wheel sensors, any hot bearing can be individually identified by its location on the train consist down to the specific axle where the temperature anomaly is detected.
A report can be created immediately after the train passage and sent to an external notification system or train cab within few seconds. This provides the train operator the ability to initiate timely actions to prevent catastrophic failures that could lead to derailments, such as stopping the train or ordering immediate inspections.
